Item description
RZM PERIOD SS ‘33 MANS DAGGER BY ROBERT KLASS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.
A really great example of a SS mans dagger produced during the RZM period by Robert Klaas with both the RZM number M7/37 but also the allocated code 1051/38 SS! I can call it a ‘mans’ dagger as by this time, all officers are wearing the chained dagger which was introduced in 1936. Up until that time both officers and men were wearing the same 1933 type dagger. Dagger is in lovely condition with nickel plated alloy crossguards which are in perfect condition. The hard, ebony wood grip typically has a couple of minor cracks and some MINOR edge slivers missing on top crossguard join.
The SS enamel button is 100% perfect and the gfip eagle on this dagger is nickel. The scabbard has nickel plated steel fittings which again are in perfect condition. The black ORIGINAL scabbard paint is also perfect apart from a little age ‘spidering’ which just goes to show its original!! The blade is beautiful and actually stil has some coating of old green cosmoline grease? The crossgraining is 100% and the deep background colour in the letters MEIN EHRE HEIST TRUE is absolutely complete. The reverse riccasso has a large etched RZM circle with M7/37 underneath. Under that is the contact number 1051/38 SS, designating this dagger was made in 1938 etc. A very pleasing dagger of that period.
